The Role
Responsibilities
- Architect and own end-to-end ETL/ELT pipelines on Databricks or Snowflake, from raw ingestion through bronze/silver/gold lakehouse layers.
- Build and optimize data pipelines in Python, SQL, and PySpark.
- Automate data validation, monitoring, and quality checks.
- Design semantic models for BI, analytics, and AI/ML use cases (including RAG/LLM data prep).
- Ensure solutions are scalable, cost-efficient, and aligned with enterprise architecture.
- Partner with architects, Product Owners, and engineering teams to translate requirements into production-grade solutions.
- Embed governance (schema enforcement, lineage, cataloguing) and CI/CD practices.
- Drive continuous improvement in reliability and engineering standards.
Must-haves
- 4+ years in data engineering in cloud/enterprise environments.
- Hands-on production experience with Databricks, Snowflake, or Microsoft Fabric.
- Strong Python and SQL; fluent in PySpark/Spark SQL.
- Deep knowledge of medallion architecture, Delta Lake, and ETL/ELT design end-to-end.
- Experience with CI/CD (ideally Azure DevOps), data governance/lineage/cataloguing, and BI/semantic layers (e.g., Power BI).
- Bonus: AI data prep exposure — embeddings, RAG datasets, unstructured data pipelines.
- Bachelor's in CS/Data Engineering/related field or equivalent experience; strong analytical and stakeholder communication skills.
