Scala Developer

Our client holds a prominent position in the European utilities sector, dedicated to seamlessly connecting people and businesses with energy and providing customer-centric solutions designed for sustainability.

The company develops cloud-based, state-of-the-art software applications in various areas - IoT/ IIoT, energy management & trading, predictive maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Take full ownership of the development lifecycle for Scala backend services, including design, implementation, deployment, and maintenance within an Azure environment;
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues promptly to ensure smooth and efficient system operations;
• Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary, international team, working closely with developers and product teams in an agile framework;
• Contribute strategic insights on risk, scope, and prioritisation to support planning and decision-making for new features, while proactively identifying and proposing solutions;
• Recommend and implement architectural and process improvements to strengthen team productivity, system reliability, and overall product success.

Must-haves

• Proven experience in building service-oriented architectures using Scala;
• Solid grasp of reactive system principles, with the ability to design applications that are highly available, responsive, resilient, and scalable;
• Practical experience working with microservices in distributed environments, including deployment using Kubernetes and Azure;
• Familiarity with frameworks like Akka HTTP, Akka Streams, and Akka Actor, along with hands-on experience in event-driven architectures such as Kafka;
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage in both technical and business-oriented discussions, always keeping the customer perspective in mind.
